October 6, 2011 THURSDAY (26)
What I like most about our friendship is that we don’t need to talk to each other everyday; we don’t need to be insecure about losing the other and we don’t need to prove ourselves to each other.
When you left I had no problem missing you.
Right away I knew we wouldn’t talk every day like we were used to our entire senior year. I knew that it would be different that way and that we wouldn’t see each other every day anymore. It’s a funny thing actually, that I didn’t worry about missing you or worry about not having you to tell things to.
I think that the majority of ‘best friends’ tell each other things right away because it’s what keeps them together.
But with us I found that despite for the fact that we talked and saw each other everyday previous to when you left for an entire school year and more, we didn’t need that…’childish’ (for the lack of a better word) way to prove we are best friends.
We can allow each other to live our own lives apart, which is natural.
I know I’ll never lose you. I can feel it :)
So I could care less if we don’t talk for a long time. I know our busy and I probably will too.
But what I do know is that once we finally see each other, it will be like tonight; with excitement and much story telling with the memories flooding back on nights similar to that where we’d hangout and just talk or eat or anything we used to do.
I know that you’ll always be there for me as I will.
I think that’s what best friends are. Those who will always be there in the long run.
So what if your best friend hasn’t talked to you in a while? You’ll know they’re the one when once they come back, nothing has changed.
You two are still screaming to sing the highest notes in your cars while driving in the highway and shopping together at the mall; or when you see each other and you’re just plain happy that they are still there for you after all this time.
They give you time, space, comfort, companionship, embarrassment, truths, along with all the emotions in the world. What more can a best friend give you?

p.s. this just made my mom cry
